-- Usually, once the World Series has ended, I write a post talking about which players received a "postseason bump." In other words, whose fantasy stock went up thanks to a strong performance throughout the playoffs? This year, I didn't much see the point as the players who made postseason noise, especially in the World Series, are already fantasy luminaries. So, yeah, maybe Alex Rodriguez reminded people that he's still worth considering for first overall next year. And Chase Utley showed why he's the premier second basemen on the market. Big whoop. You don't need me to tell you things you already know. I can't even point out that Jason Werth hit seven home runs and drove in 13 during the playoffs without looking like someone selling you a used TV that's not even as good as the one you already own. Although, for the record, I do really like Werth again next season. There's a chance that, despite his fantastic '09 numbers, he may still be slightly overlooked by some managers because of his age and health history. But don't forget he'll still be batting in that potent Phillies lineup, in a contract year no less. But, see, you already knew that, huh? Damn it!
-- Apparently, the Commish is going to make sure there are less off days during the 2010 playoffs. I was going to say hooray for baseball, but then I remembered that the owners don't want to expand instant replay next year. Apparently because of all that amazingly accurate officiating we saw throughout this year's postseason.
-- As a Pirates fan, I don't know what annoys me more: That Andrew McCutchen didn't win Rookie of the Year or that Jim Tracy did win Manager of the Year.
