-- You all know by now that posting a 4-0 record and a ridiculous 1.56 ERA in the playoffs wasn't good enough for the Phillies, so they shipped Cliff Lee off to the Mariners in a massive four-team deal to get the guy they wanted all along, Roy Halladay. The trade rocked the baseball universe this week, but fantasy-wise, it's a bit of a snoozer. It's not like Lee and Halladay are suddenly going to drop out of the SP top ten just because they switched teams. Lee moves back to whence he came -- namely, the American League -- which, if memory serves, he's handled just fine in the recent past. Halladay goes to the National League where he gets to face (a) opposing pitchers trying not to look too foolish at the plate and (b) a shitload of hitters who have never stepped into the box against him before. Sounds like a good way to make sure those career numbers remain impressive.
-- The Dodgers traded Juan Pierre to the White Sox, where he'll no longer be trapped behind the Kemps and Mannys (or is it Mannies?) of the world. Word is he's going to play every day, which will make him a great source for steals. Right now, on average, he's the 71st overall OF taken for 2010 at Mock Draft Central, falling behind such fantasy luminaries as Nolan Reimold and Drew Stubbs. That shouldn't last for long.
-- John Lackey moves to Boston. Fenway should be a slightly better park to pitch in, though he's struggled there in the past. For roto purposes, I'm not a big Lackey fan. (Or should I say, I'm not a Lackey lackey? Actually, no. No, I should not.)
-- Hideki Matsui signs with the Angels. Has there ever been a player whose value swings so widely depending on whether you play in a daily-lineup league or a weekly-lineup league?
